Mike Welling

I joined the Consumer Products Group in 2021.

I like to say my career started when I got into the management trainee program for a chain of discount stores in the Northeast called Caldor Department Stores. I absolutely fell in love with retail.

From my start in retail, I have been lucky to work in a diverse range of business, companies, and roles.

I have over 30 years of sales and supply chain experience in over-the-counter drugs (OTC), Housewares, Consumables, & Automotive for Samsonite, Rubbermaid, Centrum vitamins and other nutritional brands, and Shell.

I spent over 20 years with Shell. I started as a National Account Manager for their Lubricant’s division. At that time, Shell had a team of over 40 in Bentonville support almost every category in Automotive at Walmart and Sam’s Club. I then ran a team that was charged with growing the entire Retail segment for Shell in the US. I have called on Target, Kmart, Costco, BJ’s Wholesales, Amazon and most major retailers in the US and Canada. I have run Shell’s Distributor network in the US and Canada. I was the America’s Finance Manager for Shell, responsible for all of Shell’s lubricant’s business in North and South America. I developed all the analytics platforms used by Sales, Marketing and Finance.

In my last role before joining the Consumer Products Group, I was the America’s Pricing Manager for Shell, leading a team of folks responsible for building the brand strategies and promotions for the over 20 Shell lubricant brands in the Americas.

I have been married for over 31 years to my biggest supporter, Betsy. We have 3 children. I’m a pretty active person…..I like to say “if it has a license, I want to do it”. I’m certified in Scuba, I’m a Private & Instrument rated pilot. I can’t drive the big rigs yet…..but I’m not done with licenses, so who knows? Maybe one day.
